What's on TV then?

A long time ago back in 1985 I bought a selection of home entertainment equipment. One of which was a Toshiba Blackstripe FST (Flat Screen Tube) television.

Roll the clock forward... we've gone from analogue to digital... CRT monitors (Cathode Ray Tube) are a thing of the past, and, for the past 6 years, my old TV has sat gathering dust, taking up space waiting for me to dispose of it... except I didn't dispose of it... not because I am a hoarder... but because the thought of sorting the flat out filled me with dread... or that is what I thought the reason the TV didn't get dumped was...

Roll the clock forward once more to 2015 this time... and a decision I took to begin taking the whole idea of spirituality a bit more seriously. I felt that something was missing and couldn't quite put my finger on it but knew that this was something that warranted more investigation from me...

3 years on and I can certainly say a lot has opened up... lots of people arrived to guide me... not spiritual people, regular folk, we're all students and teachers just most of us don't see the lessons and are also unaware that we are showing things to other people that they need to see... mostly we all troll along blissfully unaware... but as the old saying goes... "when the student is ready the teacher will appear...", and boy did they, in their droves... You see... I had a lot to learn (and still do)... the peculiar thing is the more you learn, the more you realise you have yet to learn... one delightful path to travel though!

So bringing it up to date...

Steve arrives from Bermuda... suddenly homeless and no where to go... so, as has happened before, I am still travelling back and forth to my mum's house, so I offered Steve a place to stay. Steve is a bit of a "sort and shake" man and was soon cleaning and clearing things that I haven't seen for 15 years!! ... however the upshot of all the clearing out was... what are you going to do with this TV Chris?

Now I have been assembling quietly, crystals, candles, incense burners, a Buddha (that was a long time ago) and other bits and pieces significant to me and they have "if I'm brutally honest" been getting in the way in the Learning & Discovery room I've been putting together... then out of nowhere came the idea...

Upcycle the TV to an Alter or Shrine... to house these spiritual pieces I have been collecting...

TeV - Third Eye Vision

So the idea was very simple... instead of sitting in front of a TV... being programmed to believe the whole world is a bad place (fear), bias, fake news, full of other people's and Pundit's opinions, and... what others have determined is important for us to watch, hear and imbibe, how about... programming ourselves through meditation, reflection and conscious awareness... though the very same TV!

A new kind of TeV with far reaching consequences

With a renewed energy and imagination for what I wanted to create, from start to finish (this project will constantly evolve that is the beautiful thing) it took from Bank Holiday Monday (27th August) to Saturday (1st Sept) to complete...

The energy, peace and focus from this simple creation is nothing short of amazing... each item in the shrine has significance to me... and are items from way back when to just acquired a few weeks ago.

Final Words...

I hope we can start a bit of a trend here... take these old TV's and transform their function to something much more appropriate for the 21st century... instead of allowing others to programme our minds... let us take that power back and take responsibility for what develops in our conscious thoughts and imagination...

Perhaps this TV was just holding out for the inspiration to hit me... it has nothing to do with my inability to sort the flat earlier... the Universe had a different plan for this TV and perhaps many like it... where are all those BlackStripe TV's do you have one? ... or something similar? ... why not upcycle?
